As some of you may have noticed, I have been pretty quiet over the last few weeks. My father has been critically ill and the last few days were especially difficult because my family and I had to make some tough decisions on my father’s behalf. I have been emotionally, physically and mentally exhausted, to say the least. However, God continues to speak to me every day and, although difficult at times, I have tried my best to remain focused on the positive things.
During my lifetime, I have encountered many storms, heartaches and losses. There are times that I have felt overwhelmed and alone, but I am constantly reminded that everything happens for a reason. It is during difficult times that God makes His presence known. It is also during the most difficult times in my life that God has blessed me the most and the experiences have served as building blocks in my self-discovery and spiritual growth. Additionally, the experiences have made me a stronger person, increased my faith and have helped me see things from a different perspective.
I have found that when I encounter “storms” in my life, the grief and stress may cloud my judgment or point of view and take me off balance, but when I take the time to look around, I am able to see evidence of God’s love in nature and the people that I encounter every day. There is the love between parents and children, husbands and wives, friendships, families, etc. Regardless of the type of relationship, when the love is sincere and truly comes from the heart, it is truly a beautiful thing. However, I believe that love is a miracle that extends beyond our human understanding. Additionally, love exists in the air that we breathe and it is depicted in all of God’s creation, including you and I. When God created the heavens and the earth, He created this world with the intention that we live a life filled with love, peace, happiness, good health, prosperity and balance.
Last night on my way home from the hospital, I stopped by Starbucks to get myself a cup of tea. The barista was very friendly and asked me about my day. I mentioned that my father was in the hospital so he expressed some kind wishes and said that he would keep my father in his prayers. I thanked him and as I sweetened my tea, I told him that chai was my favorite type of tea and asked if they had a supply available in the store for purchase. A few minutes later, the barista returned with a gift card and complimentary tea. As he handed it to me, he said that he wanted to bless me with a gift and “hang in there.” It was such a beautiful and unexpected gesture. I was filled with emotion and it really lifted my spirits!
As you may see, love comes in many different forms and it is truly all around us. I received love from a complete stranger and it was such a beautiful experience. I feel that it was God’s way of reminding me of His presence and love for me. It was also God’s way of reminding me that we are never alone.
Peace and blessings,
